Set in a remote location within Mt Kosciuszko National Park, this lodge forms the last resting shelter before the final ascent to the top of Mt Kosciuszko. The lodge is a part of a greater bushwalking trail that runs from Eden on the South Coast of New South Wales to Mt Kosciuszko in the Australian Alps. Developed by John Blay (2015), it retraces an ancient Indigenous pilgrimage to the high alpine areas to hunt for Bogong moths during the summer, while they shelter from the hot summer sun. This lodge aims to be a shelter, first and foremost, but also a spiritual/cultural centre of significance to commemorate the pilgrimage and the Indigenous history of the land.
